Bio

Tom Kuhar has been at Virginia Tech since 2001 with a 75-percent-research/25-percent-extension appointment focused on vegetable entomology, although he also works on pest-management issues in field crops and turf grass.

The overall goal of Kuhar's program is to develop, evaluate, and help implement sound integrated-pest-management practices that can enhance the profitability and sustainability of crop production, as well as improving food and environmental quality by minimizing the use of toxic pesticides.

Kuhar's applied-research program focuses on all aspects of biology, ecology, and control of arthropod pests, and on disseminating that pest information to an agricultural clientele and the scientific community.
